Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter - Unsalted (8 ounce) by igourmet.com Review

I first tried this butter when I lived in Virginia. It's sold at Farm Fresh Supermarkets. The local bakery was sampling it with their fresh Irish soda bread. I'll say this much... that butter is amazing. Put it with Irish soda bread and it's simply divine. It's almost like eating cake, it's that good. The butter is so sweet and creamy, unlike American salty butters. It is pricey, but it's so very much worth it. I love putting it on my toast and I've gotten my friends addicted to it to. It's worth every delicious, mouth-watering bite. Long before Kerrygold was ever heard of - in fact, as far back as written records go - dairying has played a starring role in Ireland. In the old days, Irishmen kept cattle for milk more than for meat, and status was derived from the bounty of your herd./pPHow did cows become the cornerstone of Irish wealth? Simple. Ireland was made for milk. It has everything you need to make a cow happy: good soil, a mild climate, moisture-bearing southwesterly winds, and all the green grass you can chew./pPIt didn't take long to figure out that happy cows produce amazing milk, which can then be churned into unbeatable butter. As early as the 17th century, Ireland was sharing its butter with the world. Irish boats were being met at the dock by salivating Swedes, Danes, Portuguese, Frenchmen, Spaniards and American colonists - just as Kerrygold butter is today./pP The butter is so appealingly golden that it looks as though it has been colored, although the color is natural, coming from the beta-carotene in the intense green Irish grass consumed by the cows. Made in the style of all premium European butters, Kerrygold's higher fat content gives its butter a distinctive richness. The foil wrapper preserves freshness and premium quality

Pont L'Eveque (8 ounce) by igourmet.com Review

One of the world's ancient cheeses, Pont L'Eveque dates back to the Thirteenth Century. Made on the coast of Normandy on small farms that use rich salt milk, Pont L'Eveque is a small cheese that is formed into a square shape. Pale yellow in color with a white-orange rind, it is a very rich and soft cheese with a supple, yet firm consistency. It is well known for its delicate bouquet, which is said to be reminiscent of the Norman countryside. However, it does tend to have a strong, pungent aroma that is not for the timid. The flavor is creamy and full-bodied, especially if you choose to eat the rind. (Some prefer to trim it). Packed in its own little wooden box and aged for 45 days, Pont L'Eveque is a cheese the French are very proud to call their own. Best when eaten at room temperature.ulliBest enjoyed within seven days of delivery. /liliMade from pasteurized cow's milk./liliWhole form is 8.5 ounces./li

Creamy, fresh and tangy, Crème Fraîche is the answer to cravings for a little bit of luxury. French for fresh cream, it is a heavy cream that has been slightly soured with a culture, similar to sour cream. This Crème Fraîche by Double Devon of England is much milder and sweeter than sour cream, and it has a silky smooth texture. Since its fat content is higher than that of sour cream, it can be fluffed up into a lightly tangy whipped cream to complement fresh fruits. Its lower protein content keeps it from curdling when cooked.p/pCrème Fraîche is delicious whipped with powdered sugar and vanilla. It can be ladled over fresh berries, or used as a dessert topping or sweet filling for crêpes. But Crème Fraîche is not just for breakfast and dessert. It blends well into savory soups, pasta dishes and casseroles, and adds richness and body to sauces. It also makes a good substitute for mayonnaise in dips, especially a creamy blue cheese dip with a healthy dash of pepperp/pp/pThe Strawberry flavor of Double Devon Crème Fraîche has been awarded a gold star at 2008's Great Taste Awards by the Guild of Fine Food Retailers.p/pAvailable in either Original or Strawberry flavor. Varieties sold separately.
